Booting Apple iMac's with wizpy

  • In order to boot Apple Inc's iMac range of machines, you would need the Wizpy companion CD shipped with the Wizpy ( 80mm mini CD )
  • As per Apple's info article #88275 , iBook G4, PowerBook G4, MacBook and MacBook Pro (both 15-inch and 17-inch) computers come with several different types of optical disc drives, including CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-ROM/CD-RW "Combo drives", and DVD-R/CD-RW "SuperDrives". All of the iBook G4, PowerBook G4, MacBook and MacBook Pro drives are called slot-loading drives, which means the disc is drawn directly into the computer rather than being put on a tray that is pulled into the computer.

    • The above machines would not support Wizpy Companion CD ( 80mm mini CD ).

    • Using any CD Copy Software on machines supporting the 80mm mini CD's ( machines with CD tray's ), create a copy of the Wizpy Companion CD onto a 120mm CD Media ( Normal sized CD ). Please make sure you use the "CD to CD" copy function only from the CD Copy software that you would use, as any other  copy option may not copy the boot sector of the original CD.

  • Boot the iMac with the Mac OS, insert the freshly copyed Wizpy CD into the iMac machine, wait for the icon of the CD Disk to appear on your desktop.

  • Select the "System Preferences" tool, select "Startup Disk"

  • Once the "Turbolinux icon" appears on the "Startup Disk" menu, select to restart the system with the "Turbolinux CD"

  • Make sure you have connected your Wizpy to the iMac machine used, through the iMac USB port interface.

  • Alternatively you could directly boot you iMac machine by selecting the boot from CD ROM option, to select the boot from CD ROMoption on iMac keep pressed the 'Alt Options' + 'C' key during the initial boot period ( gray screen ).
  • Happy Wizpying with the iMac
